Areas of Study:

This program is a planned sequence of instruction consisting of four areas of specialization:

  • Food preparation Worker
  • Restaurant Cook
  • Chef/Head Cook
  • Food Service Management

The program requires individualized instruction and cross training in food service jobs in a laboratory setting designed for production and service. This delivery system will result in a number of related occupational completion points. The program also allows for advanced training and articulation to culinary arts or travel and tourism.

In response to industry, strong emphasis is given to outcomes in demonstration of personal productivity and basic skills in communication, technical reading, mathematics, and scientific principles related to the food industry.

ACF AccreditedThe Culinary Arts program is also accredited by the American Culinary Federation Foundation. All graduates who are student members of the ACF are granted Certified Culinarian (CC) or Certified Pastry Culinarian (CPC)upon graduation. This certification is the first step in a student’s career journey towards full chef certification. For those employed, the Culinary Apprenticeship and  ACF Chef Certification programs are also offered.

In addition, the First Coast Technical College School of Culinary Arts hosts many events, many of which are open to the public.
