This program prepares students for employment as emergency medical technicians to function at the pre-hospital emergency medical technician (basic) level and treat various medical/trauma conditions using appropriate equipment and materials. Our program is approved by the Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and the curriculum adheres to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) Emergency Medical Technician-basic National Standard Curriculum.

Paramedic Program

Program Length: 1144 hours (11 months), North Campus
Prerequisites: Florida certified EMT, current CPR card

Individuals interested in enrolling in the Paramedic Program must be Florida certified EMT’s. Paramedic I is the first of three courses that comprise the Paramedic Program. Components of the total program consist of classroom, laboratory, hospital clinicals and field internship. Successful completion of Paramedic I is required for admittance into Paramedic II and III. Upon successful completion of the three phases of the program you will receive a certificate and be eligible to sit for the Florida Paramedic certification exam.
Course content includes, but is not limited to: patient assessment, advanced airway management, cardiovascular emergencies, external and internal bleeding and shock, traumatic injuries, fractures, emergency childbirth, mass casualty incident, incident command system, and transportation of patient. Graduates will be proficient in all basic EMT procedures, advanced patient assessment and management techniques, IV therapy, management of cardiovascular emergencies and techniques of medication administration.
