Program Name: Hairdresser and Cosmetologist (2
Post Secondary Number: COS0005, COS0006 350 hours each (700 hours)

The purpose of this program is to prepare a person for employment as a licensed hairdresser or cosmetologist designed to qualify students for employment upon successfully passing the Florida Cosmetology license examination or obtaining a registration from the State Board of Cosmetology.

The program is a planned sequence of instruction. We will begin with the Core of Cosmetology. This content includes, but is not limited to, communication skills, leadership skills, human relations skills and employability skills, safe and efficient work practices, Florida cosmetology law and rules, related chemistry, bacteriology, anatomy and physiology. The acquisition of knowledge of skills to perform manicures, pedicures and all artificial nail enhancements, to become a nail specialist, Developing skills performing the manipulative & electrical techniques, hair removal and the art of makeup to become a Facial specialist. The final sequence would be to develop skills in the art of hairstyling, haircutting coloring and textures services to become a full cosmetologist.
