Pumpkin Carving Contest

 

Freestyle Pumpkin Carving at FCTCStudents from First Coast Technical College’s School of Culinary Arts first carve their pumpkins … then they cook them in the kitchens and serve them in Walter’s Reef Café!

Each year, a pumpkin carving contest is held to create signature masterpieces. This year, the contest is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29th, on the FCTC Main Campus, 2980 Collins Ave., St. Augustine.

After the contest, delicious pumpkin recipes are featured in Walter’s Reef Café, the student operated public restaurant; open to the public Tues – Thurs, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Go to www.waltersreef.blogspot.com for a daily menu and call 547-3455 for reservations.

“Pumpkins have been donated by area vendors to encourage student creativity and prepare them for competitions,” said Chef Bill Castleberry, Culinary Supervisor. Contest winners announced at 3:40 p.m.

The event is open to the public and judged by a panel of community business leaders.
