Program Costs

This program is a planned sequence of instruction consisting of five areas:

  • Service Technician
  • Parts Clerk
  • Installer/Repair
  • Helper Mechanic
  • Small Engine Mechanic

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as a small gasoline engine mechanic or provide advanced training in the small gasoline engine service technology industry. Shop and laboratory activities are an integral part of this program. These activities provide instruction in the use of tools, equipment, materials, and processes found in the industry.

This program focuses on broad, transferable skills, and stresses the understanding of all aspects of the small gasoline engine services technology industry. Completion of the Gasoline Engine Technology program will enable students to obtain employment repairing and maintaining lawn equipment such as:

  • Push & riding lawn mowers
  • Wood chippers
  • Weed eaters
  • Blowers
  • Chain saws

Earn National Credentials

Students graduating in this program can take the Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) exam through The Engine Service Association (ESA).
