The responsibilities of the Nursery Manager are:

  • You will be responsible for all living material at assigned retail location. This includes driving back and forth between the locations. This also includes ordering, tracking, sourcing and inputting inventory. Inventory counts and margin analysis are also important.
  • A critical part of your job will be to work closely with the Sales Manager making sure any and all plants are confirmed and ordered for the wholesale customers upcoming needs.
  • You will also manage inventory and maintain the nursery to keep it fully stocked, clean, organized and well-signed. It is important that we make it easy for our customers to find what they are looking for.
  • Provide exceptional service, input and insight to improve the nursery including layout, plant selection, inventory management, etc.
  • As the Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for not only assisting in the supervision of the LLS Sales Associates but also working directly with the customers as a salesperson and role model for the entire sales team.
  • Providing information on products, including how to care for products, watering and sun needs and any other information that will assist in educating the customer on the product or products they are purchasing. * Become proficient in CounterPoint, our inventory tracking and Point-of-Sale system.
  • Prepare sales receipts and invoices for customers as necessary.
  • Maintain store appearance by vacuuming, emptying trash cans, cleaning counters and windows, straightening showroom, update in-store merchandising and keeping area neat.
  • Solve problems to the best of your ability as they arise. There are not many emergencies in this business so many situations need to be dealt with reasonably until they can be discussed with ownership and a permanent solution can be established. Most important, if you’re not sure ask and never be afraid to tell the customer you don’t know.
  • Daily and weekly responsibilities that you may be asked to assist with in the absence of GM:

a) Morning and Afternoon “walks” with the owner and/or GM to review the condition of the yard, inventory shortages, and marketing design. The afternoon walk should make sure all plants material that is tagged – is pulled from the yard to be held in the holding block or behind the fence.
b) You may be asked to assist with supervision of the delivery board daily and also reviewing “future” board assignments.
c) Reviewing daily delivery tickets for the next day.
d) Review all incoming orders for the next day.
e) Review employee schedules daily to make sure you are adequately staffed for the next day. (covering deliveries and installations)
f) Inspect the trucks when they come in at the end of the day, this review is not only for cleanliness but to make sure proper inventory is on the trucks and also to review the overall condition of the truck.
g) Supervise the marketing sign by the road. This is a great means of free advertising for us and should reflect all new products and services we offer.
h) Daily staff training of the over 1000 products we offer. This can be accomplished by the use of the “Learning Table” and holding weekly mini classes and training sessions.
i) Weekly report to owner for any new or price changed signs.
j) Review the weekly maintenance books for the trucks and tractors.
k) Review the Pick-up and TBD files.
l) Work on any daily or weekly “Special Project” that may come up.

  • Adhere to strict confidentiality of company financial figures, including our cost, profit margins and gross sales. Violation of this policy is subject to immediate termination.
  • Keep track of time on company timesheet and update daily.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
