HVAC TECH III – FACILITIES MAINTENANCE
St. Johns County Facilities Maintenance Department seeks an HVAC Tech III to be responsible for the installation repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems in county buildings and facilities.
Installs, maintains and repairs HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. Designs HVAC systems; installs new equipment and modifies duct work as needed. Assists contractors with new construction. Repairs electronic gates and doors. Purchases parts and supplies. Maintains assigned tools, vehicles and equipment. Maintains a full-time presence on the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Must have knowledge of HVAC system installation, repair and maintenance. Knowledge of relevant construction codes. Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance of HVAC systems. Knowledge of department policies and procedures. Must be skilled in diagnostic troubleshooting. Skilled in the operation of job-related tools, vehicles and equipment. Skilled in oral and written communication. Must have knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Must have sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Must have possession of a valid State of Florida or St. Johns County HVAC/Mechanical Journeyman’s License and a Universal Refrigerant Reclaim Certificate from an EPA certified agency required for HVAC Technician II designation. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid State of Florida or St. Johns County Class I Master Mechanical License and a Universal Refrigerant Reclaim Certificate from an EPA certified agency required for HVAC Technician III designation. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position. Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills in order to serve others. Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language. Must be able to operate a computer.
