🌟 Celebrating Our SREY – Jenni Williams BowmasterDean of Student Services & Director of The Education FoundationWe are proud to recognize Jennifer Bowmaster as our School Related Employee of the Year. Jennifer’s dedication to education, her passion for students, and her unwavering commitment to making a difference shine through in every role she takes on. From her early days in the classroom to her current leadership as Dean of Student Services and Director of the Education Foundation, Jennifer continues to inspire colleagues and students alike. How long have you been in the industry?I was raised by two educators, so in many ways I feel I’ve been in education my entire life. Professionally, I have been serving in the education field for over 15 years. How long have you been teaching?I spent a little more than six years as a classroom teacher, primarily teaching middle school mathematics and English. I also coached almost every sport. Why did you become a teacher? My journey began as a long-term substitute teacher. I was the third teacher to step into a math classroom that year—and math was actually my worst subject! With only a chalkboard, an Elmo, and a lot of patience, I relied on daily “pro-tips” from my dad. On the last day of school, a student came to say goodbye. I told them they were smart and that I loved them. They began to cry and shared that no one had ever said that to them before. That moment solidified my calling—I knew I wanted to be a teacher who could make that kind of difference in students’ lives. What does being a “good” teacher mean to you?Being a good teacher means you never stop learning—about your subject, your students, and yourself. What inspires you in your work?I am deeply inspired when I see individuals succeed and overcome challenges. Watching students persevere and achieve their goals is the greatest motivation. If you could remind yourself of one important thing at the start of next year, what would it be?You make a difference. Every. Single. Day.What advice would you share with people who are interested in becoming teachers?Teaching is not easy, but it is one of the most rewarding and impactful professions you can choose. Every effort is worth it. ... See MoreSee Less
