Institutional Advisory Committee

The saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child” and the FCTC Institutional Advisory Committee recognizes that the education of students is a shared responsibility involving the school, students, their families and members of this community. It is especially true to students pursuing career and technical education at FCTC, who remain in the community as part of the skilled manpower that contributes to economic activities.

Parents and guardians have the right, as well as the responsibility, to participate in the education of their children, and can contribute to their development in a wide variety of ways. Other members of the community also offer a wealth of experience and expertise that may be of benefit to students during and after completion of their training. Members of all of these groups should, therefore, have the opportunity to advise in educational matters. FCTC is committed to encouraging partnerships that will enhance the education of its students.

What is the Institutional Advisory Committee?

An IAC team, by Florida law, is comprised of the Principal, teachers, support staff, business/community members and parents. All members are elected by the group before the first meeting. Members are encouraged to bring forth issues and offer solutions to help the school.

What is the role of IAC?

The root of IAC is data-driven decision making so IAC will assist the Principal with the annual school budget, reviewing assessment data, giving feedback and monitoring student progress.
