- Passing the TEAS is required for the Practical Nursing and Surgical Technology programs
- FCTC highly suggests taking the TEAS in person at our Testing Center
- Please bring your ATI account login and password information with you to test. The test proctors do not have access to this information
- The test consists of 170 questions
- You will have 3 hours and 29 minutes to take the full test
- The test is broken down as follows:
- Reading: 55 minutes, 45 questions
- Mathematics: 57 minutes, 38 questions
- Science: 60 minutes, 50 questions
- English and Language: 37 minutes, 37 questions

- There is a 10 minute break allowed after the math test
- Any other breaks are considered unscheduled and will count against your total time
- Your results will be available immediately.
- Practical Nursing – A passing score of 55% or higher is needed to apply. The score requirement will increase to 58.7% affecting students starting in the 10/19/26 class and beyond.
- Surgical Technology – A passing score of 58.7% or higher is needed to apply.
- Retesting Policy:
- Students may test a maximum of two times in 30 days. Students must wait 2 weeks between the first and second attempts. Additionally, if the minimum score is not met on the second attempt, the student must wait 30 days from their last test date in order to test again.
- Students must pay for each individual exam and retake with registration prior to scheduling their test.
- Special Accommodations:
Students who want to request special accommodations on the TEAS assessment must submit current (no more than five years old), written documentation from a qualified professional that validates eligibility for academic accommodations to Student Advising at [email protected]. Allow 30 days for review. Please note that a student’s need for accommodations is determined case-by-case, and therefore this assistance is not guaranteed. The student must notify the Test Center of an approved accommodation at the time the TEAS assessment is scheduled.
