Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Outpatient Surgery Center
Location: St. Augustine, Florida
Employment Type: Part Time
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dynamic team at Old Moultrie Surgery Center. The LPN will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, outpatient surgical environment. This position involves assisting with pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative care, supporting surgical teams, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout their surgical experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures, including pre-operative assessments, monitoring vital signs, and post-operative recovery support.
• Procedure Assistance: Assist physicians and registered nurses during surgical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining sterile fields, and providing necessary supplies or equipment.
• Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and documentation requirements.
• Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on pre- and post-operative instructions, including wound care, medication management, and follow-up appointments.
• Documentation: Accurately document patient information, including medical history, vital signs, and care provided, in the patient’s chart.
• Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, RNs, surgical technicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and efficient workflow.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA, HIPAA, and state regulations).
• Equipment Management: Assist in preparing and maintaining surgical equipment and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of patient care areas.
Qualifications:
• Licensure: Current and valid LPN license in the state of Florida.
• Education: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
• Experience: Prefer 1-2 years of LPN experience, prefer experience in outpatient surgery, ambulatory care, or acute care setting.
• Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
• Skills: Strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and assist with patient mobility as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in surgical or perioperative nursing.
• Knowledge of outpatient surgery center workflows and protocols.
• Bilingual (Spanish and/or ASL) is a plus.
Work Environment:
• Fast-paced outpatient surgery center with a focus on same-day surgical procedures.
• Typical schedule: Monday through Friday, with occasional early mornings or extended hours based on surgical schedules. No overnight shifts required. No weekends.
