Summary:
The Project Systems Engineer will work on challenging technical projects as well as serve as an escalation point for Deployment Tech’s and Tier 1 Engineers. The successful candidate will be highly technical and a natural troubleshooter and leader with great customer service instincts.
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Professional Services team. This role requires a strong IT background to understand and address technical challenges. The ideal candidate will be adept at executing projects assigned in alignment with our CompassMSP processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proficiently manage multiple tasks of varying size and complexity across diverse client infrastructures
- Proficient in server design, configuration, and optimization (Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V).
- Proficient knowledge in single level domain environments with active directory, group pol-icies, and FSMO management
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure, including Layer 2 & 3, firewalls (SonicWall, Fortinet), and VPNs.
- Proficient in server migrations including files, domain/DNS (FSMO), Line of Business Appli-cations, DHCP, and printers
- Proficient in network design, upgrade and implementation
- Proficient in email migrations (on prem to O365 or cloud hosted to O365)
- Experience with third-party software solutions like Datto, Veeam, and StorageCraft.
- Experience is multifactor/SSO setup and management (DUO, O365)
- Basic knowledge and configuration of Azure Cloud hosting environments (migrations and lift/shift a plus)
- Ability to manage multiple client infrastructures and provide complex troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of security practices and backup solutions.
- Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider or Consulting environment is preferred
- Proficiency with systems like ConnectWise and IT Glue is advantageous for seamless oper-ations
- Provide escalation assistance, coaching, and training to team members to enhance overall performance and skill development
- Flexible schedule availability to accommodate varying work hours, including after-hours support when required
Qualifications:
- Typically 7-10 years of experience in IT, system administration, and technical support.
- Of the 7-10 years, 2-3 minimum in a Professional Services (projects) environment
- Hands-on experience with complex configurations, installations, and troubleshooting for IT systems, including servers, virtual environments, and firewalls.
- Experience building, documenting, and supporting IT infrastructures
- Preferred certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), CompTIA Security+, or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider or Consulting environment is preferred
