Dental Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with EMR systems and familiarity with oral surgery.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow through effective chairside assisting techniques.
- Prepare and maintain dental instruments and equipment, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and HIPAA guidelines.
- Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records management, using EMR systems.
- Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and documenting patient medical history accurately.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Support the front office as needed by performing dental receptionist duties, including scheduling appointments and managing patient inquiries.
- Collaborate with the dental team to provide comprehensive care.
- Utilize 3D scanners for imaging when necessary, ensuring precise documentation of dental conditions.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a clinical setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures related to general dentistry and specialized fields such as oral surgery
- Familiarity with EMR systems is essential; experience with Carestream WINOMS is a plus.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Ability to perform medical imaging tasks and maintain accurate medical documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients on treatment plans and oral health practices.
