Crane Maintenance Technician I or II
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• This position is responsible for assisting Crane Technicians in the maintenance and repair of all
cranes to include gantry, friction, mobile cranes and support equipment to ensure downtime is kept at
the lowest possible level.
• Operates all cranes as required to make tests of all systems, spreader changes, other maintenance
operations, and for cargo handling.
• Maintains engine run records, equipment rental records and equipment maintenance records on all
equipment.
• Performs preventative maintenance using proper type of lubricants, oil and filter changes. Assists in
generator and/or motor removal and installation, alignment, repair, fluids and brush changes. Assists
in maintenance of diesel power units.
• Pre-checks and maintains support equipment. Assists in trouble-shooting all systems (electrical,
hydraulic and mechanical).
• Correctly uses and maintains hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Maintains assigned equipment and work areas in a clean, organized and professional manner.
• Maintains adequate amounts of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
• Establishes and maintains a professional image with the customers and fellow employees.
• May be required to be in an “on-call” status as determined by the terminal where assigned and its
operational environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems required.
• At JAXPORT’s discretion, can substitute the three years’ experience with advanced training in the
above areas.
License/Certifications: N/A
Knowledge:
• General knowledge of industrial electricity/electronics.

• Must be able to read and understand schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
• Must be able to adapt to frequent changes in work schedule and job assignments.
Travel: None
Other Requirements:
• Must be able to complete and pass the written test for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to be
able to operate terminal support equipment. A CDL license is not required.
• Valid driver license is required and must be maintained during employment.
• This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to pre-employment and random drug
and alcohol testing.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
during employment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Frequently remain in a stationary position.
• Constantly move, traverse inside office or on JAXPORT property to accomplish job duties.
• Constantly operate, use or handle equipment, tools, computers and other office machinery.
• Constantly ascend, descend, work atop, traverse on ladders, equipment and buildings to perform
maintenance and safety functions. Heights up to 200 feet.
• Constantly position self to move, to maintain or repair equipment on terminal or in office.
• Constantly detect, determine, identify, recognize, observe, inspect to read and use computers.
• Constantly detect, converse with, convey, exchange information with others via radio, telephone.
Ability to listen to equipment to troubleshoot
• Continuously move, transport and position, material up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 75 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed
outside or with exposure to risk.
