Pasco County Fire Department
PCFR Applicants MUST:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have current BLS or ACLS certifications by the American Heart Association, American Red Cross or the American Safety & Health Institute
- Be certified by the State of Florida as an EMT or Paramedic
- Have a Certificate of Compliance from the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training
*Copies of these certifications are required to be submitted at the time of your interview.
Pasco County Fire Rescue accepts applications year-round. Below is the applicant timeline, click through the following for more information on each step, please note the hiring process can take up to 8 weeks.
Application Timeline
Complete one of the following online applications:
*PCFR interviews candidates 3 to 4 times per year for various open positions. Candidates who are not contacted for an interview 6 months after applying are encouraged to reapply.
Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive a phone call from the PCFR Personnel Division to schedule an interview. After the phone call you will also receive a confirmation email outlining everything you will need to bring with you to the interview.
The interview will consist of a three-person panel interview with the Personnel Division Chief and other members of PCFR.
You will be notified via email within 7-10 days after the interview if you’ve been selected for the next phase in the hiring process.
You will be contacted by the PCFR Occupational Health team to schedule a physical.
You will receive a pre-employment health questionnaire via email. That form should be printed, filled out and submitted to our Occupational Health team at the time of your physical.
As part of our hiring process, candidates must authorize a comprehensive background investigation. This background check is conducted by our Human Resources Department in compliance with Florida State Law (Section 943.13(7), F.S.) and Florida Administrative Code (Rule 11B-27.0011(1), F.A.C.).
You will receive an email to schedule your Fireground Physical Ability Test (FPAT) with the PCFR Peer Fitness Instructors.

You will receive an email to schedule your uniform and bunker gear fitting.
