Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of welding techniques and be proficient in various steel and aluminum welding processes. This role involves fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal structures and components of vessels according to specifications. The Welder will work closely with other team members to ensure high-quality production standards while adhering to safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Welder or in a similar role within the manufacturing or construction industry.
  • Experience using hand tools effectively in a production setting.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a shipyard environment (heavy industrial).
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety standards and protocols at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project specifications.
  • Perform welding tasks using various techniques including Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), GMAW – MIG, Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG) and plasma cutting.
  • Operate hand tools and machinery such as press brake machines to shape metal components.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while following safety guidelines.

What to expect in this role

  • Working occasionally on elevated scaffolding to heights of approximately 50 feet
  • Climbing stairways to vessels of approximately 50 feet up and working aboard vessels at this height
  • Working on ladders
  • Carrying equipment/tools of varying weights up to approximately 60 lbs.
  • Welding on a vessel for structural systems
  • Working in a non-climatized buildingway and in the open elements outside the buildingway in the Florida climate which can include environmental elements such as high and low temperatures, wind and rain
  • Use of various tools and equipment, including welding machines, cutting torches, drills, drill presses and grinders, etc.
  • Working in tight spaces with kneeling, bending , crawling, or overhead work

What will set you apart from other candidates

  • The ability to weld both steel and aluminum components.
  • Welding certification(s).
  • Experience in the shipbuilding industry.
  • Safety certification(s).
  • Other skills related to the construction of steel and aluminum vessels.
  • Prior leadership roles.
  • The ability to travel approximately 10 days out of the year or as needed.
  • An eager willingness to broaden your skillset through education and experience with the company.

Pay: $19.00 – $27.00 per hour
